About the show

The Queanbeyan Players are celebrating their 30th anniversary with a pajama party.

The Pajama Game opens on 27 May at the Queanbeyan Bicentennial Centre and features hilarious comedy, memorable melodies and an enormously talented cast.

Director Nina Stevenson said the show exemplified the best of the classic stage musicals.

"It's a classic story of lovers caught on opposite sides of a conflict, struggling to find an answer for themselves and the organisations they represent," she said.

"And this is illustrated with a series of beautiful solo numbers and lavish full production pieces, superbly delivered by a talented cast of performers."

The two principle actors, Georgia Pike as Babe and Phil Marlan as Sid, ably lead the large cast through the story of the union dispute with the Sleep Tite Pajama Factory.

Sleep Tite owner Mr Hasler refuses to accede to the worker's demand for a seven-and-a-half cent per hour pay rise, leaving factory supervisor Sid Sorokin in direct conflict with the worker's grievance committee, headed by Babe Williams.

Add in jealous former knife thrower Vernon Hines, convinced his girl Gladys is stepping out with Sid, and the womanising antics of Prez, head of the union, and you have a riotous situation that explodes with hilarious results for all.

Featuring songs such as I'm Not At All In Love, Hey There, Once A Year Day, There Once Was A Man and Hernando's Hideaway, The Pajama Game is an evening of entertainment for the whole family.

The Pajama Game played at the Queanbeyan Bicentennial Centre from 27 May to 11 June 2005.
