About the theatre

The Queanbeyan City Council are building a new theatre for Queanbeyan - work is underway and this page records progress roughly month by month.

When complete (expected by the end of 2007), the theatre will be known as the Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre.

June 2007

Work is proceeding at a frightening rate - the work before these photos were taken, there was only half as much of the metal framing erected. The theatre is apparently on-track for completion by the end of the year.

March 2007

Walls are going up at the stage end, and footings have been started at audience end. And judging by that green box, they're installing electricity too.

February 2007

They've made a good start on the footings at the stage end of the theatre.

December 2006

Work is underway on the new theatre in Queanbeyan! There's an impressive hole in the ground in the Crawford St carpark, and the loading dock at the back of the Function Centre has been removed.
